John Lackey, Jon Lester?and Jake Peavy shone bright for the Red Sox, registering two complete games and a combined 1.47 ERA against the red-hot Dodgers. Setting the tone early was Lackey. Despite falling to the hands of Ricky Nolasco by a score of 2-0, Lackey registered his season s first complete game. Recording six strikeouts over eight innings, Lackey yielded just two runs on three hits.
Carrying the momentum of Friday night s start, Lester took the ball for the Red Sox on Saturday afternoon. Turning in one of his most impressive outings of the season, Lester surrendered just one run over 7.1 innings. Despite failing to complete the eighth inning, Lester claimed his 12th win of the season by a score of 4-2.
In the rubber match of the three-game series, the Red Sox handed the ball to newly-acquired Peavy, and the former two-time All-Star and Cy Young Award winner for the ?logged yet another impressive performance at Dodger Stadium. Prior to Sunday night s start, Peavy held a 3.08 ERA in 12 starts at Dodger Stadium. Continuing that success, Peavy dominated the Dodgers lineup on Sunday night.
Posting the Red Sox second complete game, Peavy held the Dodgers to three hits and one run over nine commanding innings, helping the Red Sox win 8-1.
Not only were the Red Sox able to take two of three games against the Dodgers, but they were also able to gain back sole possession of first place in the AL East with help from the .
Not a bad weekend.

Clausen never panned out, and the Panthers set him free Saturday morning in an expected move, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Panthers also cut cornerback Drayton Florence, who was expected to help fill a need in the secondary. This likely means that second-year corner Josh Norman has impressed the team enough to play a significant role.
Clausen had remained third in the quarterback pecking order behind Cam Newton and Derek Anderson and never could prove to the Carolina brass that he served a real purpose. With more teams going with two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, it has shortened the window for quarterbacks �� even highly drafted ones �� to prove themselves.
Joining Clausen on the unemployment list is fellow 2010 second-rounder, Patriots defensive end Jermaine Cunningham. He was drafted one spot before fellow Florida Gator,ROBERTS- How a true democracy operates, Carlos Dunlap, who has become a star with the Bengals, but Cunningham never was able to carve out a significant niche in New England. Rose shot 44% in 2011 before he got injured. Not exactly a great stat. If he s working on his range I hope he is working on the accuracy part as well. Rose is at his best when he attacks the basket. If his range and accuracy improve and he can pick his spots while still attacking the basket then yes, he will be much improved. If he starts using the jumper as a crutch, and it diminishes from his attacking style of play he will regress. We ll find out in about 2 months.</html>
Hewitt comes through toe

looking forward to a third round clash at the US Open.
Hewitt's inspirational five-set triumph over Argentina's sixth seed
Juan Martin del Potro at Flushing Meadows on Friday was a crowning
moment in his harrowing journey back from five rounds of
surgery.
The 32-year-old Australian recovered from blowing a huge early lead
to finally notch a 6-4 5-7 3-6 7-6(2) 6-1 second round win on
Arthur Ashe Stadium that came two years after he was repeatedly
told he should quit if he had major surgery on the big toe of his
left foot.
"The foot surgery, I must have seen seven or eight different
surgeons worldwide," Hewitt said.
"At least six of them told me to retire if you have it done. I'm
very thankful that I found the guy that I believed in. We went in
there and we were optimistic about it."
In 2011, Hewitt's toe was chronically arthritic and misshapen after
years of digging into courts to launch his service action. Last
year he had the toe reconstructed and irreversibly fused.
Cartilage was removed in 2012 and painful bone spurs were shaved
off. A steel rod was inserted. The toe no longer moves, but nor
does it give Hewitt grief.
"We thought I might be able to play doubles," he said. "But we
weren't 100 percent sure whether I would be able to come back and

"In the back of your mind, you still have question marks, whether
it's going to be good enough to go out and compete on the centre
stage against the top players again.
"When I first came back for the French Open and Wimbledon, I wasn't

after the surgery, but the last year has been pretty good."

Hewitt double-faulted at set point in the second set. He proceeded

"For me, just going back in the locker room afterwards, I sort of
had to pinch myself. I love being out in that atmosphere, sucking
up every second of it.
"He's a pretty quiet guy and I was trying to stay in my zone out
there. Obviously over five sets there's going to be a lot of ups
and downs and momentum swings. I don't know how many times I'm
going to play here in the future. I didn't take it for granted
tonight,John Salley talks about veganism and the NBA."
Del Potro, also a former US Open champion, paid tribute to Hewitt's
tenacity. The Argentinian, however, contributed to his own demise
with 70 unforced errors. "He's a great champion and a great

Knicks' Beno Udrih to skip EuroBasket

However while Bargnani had to leave the Italian team due to pneumonia, Udrih seems to be putting team ahead of country.
Udrih has battled injuries in the past and now that he has signed with the Knicks, this just looks like a safety move. And unlike Bargnani,New York Knicks- Who is the Knicks most underrated player-, who Knicks fans would ?have liked to seen what he has at this point, ?they already know what they will be getting in Udrih.
Knicks’ point guards have battled injuries the past couple of seasons, so it makes sense for Udrih to forgo the competition and focus solely on contending for a championship.
Both Udrih and Pablo Prigioni will be backing up Raymond Felton to start the season and with the way Mike Woodson liked to use two point guard sets a season ago, the Knicks certainly can’t afford for either guy to be hurt coming into camp.
Even though Slovenia won’t?have the services of Udrih, they should be fine. They still have?Goran Dragic?at the point and other quality players including Bostjan Nachbar.

But the warning signs have been out there for years. And many are surprised at how slow investors have been to realize this.
Here's Citi Emerging Markets strategist Markus Rosgen in a note to clients last week:
"It is clearly a slow news summer. No A, B or C list movie star is making a fool of themselves,Woman sentenced in child sex abuse case, parliaments are in recess, heads of government on holiday, so nothing substantive to report on. Newspapers still have to go to print and attract readers interest, and the same goes for the financial newswires. In recent weeks, these massive current account deficits have been blamed for the big sell-offs and .

<html>The last few years have seen the return of science fiction cinema in a big way. Not since the early 80 s have there seemingly been so many sci-fi movies released in such a short time. Movies like Avatar have set box office records,US swimmer close to end of Cuba 0, and visionary directors such as Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuaron,Hoofbeats, History, Howitzers and Hoedowns, and Guillermo Del Toro have turned to the genre as a way to tell their stories.
Although not as prevalent before about 2009, science fiction has been fairly well represented at the movies ever since the turn of the century, with the Star Wars prequels and The Matrix bringing more attention to the genre.
Even though many of the sci-fi movies released this year have been disappointing either critically or financially, there are many potentially fascinating examples of the genre left to come in the next few months and years.
Alfonso Cuaron s Gravity has received significant pre-release buzz, celebrated cinematographer Wally Pfister s directorial debut Transcendence?comes out early next year with one of the most interesting plot ideas in quite a while, and Christopher Nolan s potentially groundbreaking Interstellar looms over almost every movie coming out in 2014. Many other projects are sure to come out over the next few years, hopefully continuing sci-fi s second golden age.
What constitutes science fiction is up for debate but generally, I would list the prerequisites as being something that either depicts a future society, advanced technology, or uses a technical or scientific idea as a springboard to tell a story.
For this list, movies that contained elements of science fiction, but primarily belonged to a different genre were not considered,Taylor in Tacoma- Taylor Swift plays a lavishly produced Tac, which is why no superhero movies appear and great films such as The Prestige, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and The Fountain are not listed even though they are better than many of the movies on here.

It s cheap, derivative, uninspired, and certainly did not need an overblown sequel, but Pitch Black is one of the more underrated sci-fi films of the millennium?so far.
When a cargo ship carrying the notorious criminal Riddick crashes on an uninhabited world, Vin Diesel s hulking criminal escapes, much to the chagrin of the crew. However, after the dark secret of the planet is revealed, Riddick must join forces with the other survivors to have a chance at escaping the planet alive.
Pitch Black, while hardly a masterpiece, is a surprisingly clever film that has an unexpected number of ideas for what is essentially a B-movie. Vin Diesel plays the role he was born to as Riddick,Joshua Harris, Billionaire Philadelphia 76ers Owner To Buy N, a killer who shows no fear, empathy, or emotion, and the bleak landscape of the film sets just the right tone.
Sure,3 Reasons Your Misogyny is Boring Man Cave Daily, the special effects are pretty poor and there s nothing particularly original about any aspect of it, but Pitch Black is a well executed, above average horror/action/sci-fi film that is just good enough to crack this list.</html>

Among American men, prostate cancer is both the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second-leading cause of cancer deaths. The exact causes remain unknown, but medical professionals have identified several risk factors that can increase a man s chances of developing prostate cancer. It is more common among older men and men with a family history of prostate cancer. African American men also have a significantly higher risk, both of developing and dying from prostate cancer. I encourage all men to learn about warning signs by visiting .
My Administration continues to support important prostate cancer research research that will enhance our knowledge and improve prostate cancer prevention and treatment. The Affordable Care Act also offers new protections for all Americans. The health care law bans insurance companies from placing lifetime dollar limits on essential health benefits and from dropping coverage because of mistakes on insurance applications. Beginning in 2014, the Affordable Care Act will also eliminate annual dollar limits on vital benefits, and insurers will no longer be able to deny coverage or charge higher premiums to patients with prostate cancer or any other pre-existing medical condition.
This month, I encourage all Americans to lend their support to family, friends, and neighbors whose lives have been touched by prostate cancer. Let us celebrate the compassion and perseverance of health care providers, researchers, and dedicated advocates. Together, we can raise awareness, support research, improve care, and reduce the impact of this disease on our citizens and our Nation.

U.K., Morocco Sign Film Co

In Morocco that means tax incentives, while in the UK qualifying productions will be able to acquire the British movie tax relief and apply to the BFI s film fund -- the U.K. s largest public film fund with a current allocation of $34 million ( 22 million) annually to invest in the development, production and completion of feature films.
U.K. government culture minister Ed Vaizey said the treaty recognizes the wonderful collaborative relationship that already exists between the creative industries of the U.K. and Morocco, as well as putting in place strong financial incentives to boost film production in both nations.
Director general of the Centre Cinematographique Marocain Nour-Eddine Sail said: This treaty will help us create sustainable cultural partnerships between our two film industries and give filmmakers in both our countries access to new markets, new creative opportunities and financial advantages. Our intention is to expand this ambition into the area of TV production too so that content producers for high end television also gain the cultural exchange and financial benefits.
BFI chief executive Amanda Nevill noted that British filmmakers, from David Lean through to Christopher Nolan, have long looked to Morocco for its landscapes and substantial production infrastructure.

For New York Knicks fans, this upcoming season might be the last chance we have to be a great team in the Eastern Conference. The potential starting five that Woodson is going to go with should be pretty much the same lineup as last season.

The pink elephant in the room is the $20 million man in Amar’e Stoudemire.
In a perfect world, Stoudemire,NBA Trade Rumors- Rajon Rondo still interests Pistons, Chandler, and Carmelo are all healthy and all have the chemistry of a hydrogen and oxygen atom, but they don’t.
STAT is going to have a minutes limit this season and I doubt he starts. Woodson loves him off the bench and having that offensive explosiveness paired with Smith.
Smith and Stoudemire are two of the most talented Knicks, and make a lot more money than Prigioni and World Peace, but Woodson doesn’t care about salaries.

Speed Demon bragged about car exploits to cops arresting him
<html>The BMW-driving speed fiend who claimed a record-setting lap of Manhattan on YouTube boasted of even crazier car exploits to the cops who arrested him, authorities said on Friday.
Adam Tang, 30, of Harlem admitted to investigators that he filmed and posted a dashboard video documenting his mad run around Manhattan, and said he once covered 4,000 miles in 38 hours, which means driving over 100 miles an hour consistently for the entire trip, : a prosecutor, Assistant Manhattan District Attorney Shilpa Kalra, told a judge on Friday.
